COVID-19 Vaccine In Pregnancy and Lactation (COVIPAL)
To address the lack of data on vaccine efficacy and safety in pregnant and lactating populations, our team is launching a study of immune response and pregnancy outcomes after COVID-19 Vaccine in Pregnancy and Lactation (COVIPAL).
Pregnancy Cohort
Eligibility:
- Currently pregnant and planning to deliver at UCSF Medical Center.
- Planning to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
- Willing to be followed for up to 1 year after delivery.
Study overview:
- Surveys about your health, response to vaccine, and your experience related to COVID-19 and vaccination for up to 1 year after birth.
- Specimen donation:
- Your blood samples (at the time of vaccination, during pregnancy, and at the time of delivery)
- Placenta
- Cord blood
- Breastmilk
- Infant blood
- Review of medical records
Lactation Cohort
Eligibility:
- Currently or planning to breastfeed.
- Willing to come to UCSF for blood draws.
- Planning to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
- Willing to be followed for up to 1 year after vaccination.
Study overview:
- Surveys about your health, response to vaccine, and personal experiences related to COVID-19 and vaccination for up to 1 year after vaccination.
- Specimen donation:
- Your blood samples (before and after vaccination)
- Breastmilk
- Infant blood
- Review of medical records
